Claire takes on postgraduate studies to support Great Southern community
Congratulations to McGrath Breast Care Nurse and Registered Nurse Claire Badlovic, who recently completed her Graduate Certificate in Breast Cancer Nursing.
Claire has been working for WA Country Health Service since she was charmed by the Great Southern during a stint at Albany Regional Hospital close to a decade ago.
And despite starting her nursing career in oncology hematology, it took almost 20 years for Claire to find her way back to cancer nursing – a specialisation that speaks to her heart.
“I have found breast cancer nursing to be one of the most fulfilling jobs I have ever had,” Claire said.
“Of course it has its challenges, but it’s the difference you can make to people going through one of the most difficult experiences in their life that makes it all worthwhile.”
It’s this passion for helping others that fuels her commitment to ongoing professional development.
“Finishing my graduate certificate has really encouraged me to seek out further educational opportunities. I would like to do another post graduate certificate in either palliative care or counselling so I can support my patients further during their treatment journey.”
Claire said the greatest benefit to having specialist breast care services in our communities is that patients can receive expert care and advice close to home, surrounded by their support networks.
“We are part of our communities and understand how important it is for patients to be close to loved ones throughout their treatment.”
