WA Country Health Service and Horizon Power bringing sustainability to the Midwest
Thanks to Horizon Power, WA Country Health Service is bringing electric vehicles and bidirectional charging to Exmouth Health Service as part of the state-first EV Orchestration Trial.
In mid-April, Exmouth Health Service took delivery of the new vehicle, with an electric vehicle bidirectional charging station to be installed this month.
Acting Executive Director Midwest Beverley Hamerton said the organisation was excited to be part of the trial.
“We are proud to incorporate this type of vehicle into our fleet and support this rapidly advancing, sustainable technology,” Ms Hamerton said.
“This trial is a positive step forward in helping to reduce our environmental footprint.”
Horizon Executive General Manager Technology and Digital Transformation Ray Achemedei said Exmouth and WA Country Health Service were chosen for the EV Orchestration Trial as the area presents a unique set of characteristics for Horizon Power to assess.
“The population size, local climate, current network parameters and social factors provide a snapshot of a WA regional town,” Mr Achemedei said.
“Additionally, the town experiences a surge in energy consumption due to a combination of daily and seasonal demand, especially during school holiday periods.
“Our collaboration with WA Country Health Service adds another dimension to our trial.
“As a participant, they will employ the vehicle in a traditional corporate fleet setting, offering another element to our data collection process."
