Occupational Therapist Tia has a passion for supporting country communities

For Occupational Therapist Tia Hunt, working in the Wheatbelt offers continuous learning opportunities and a rewarding experience.
“What I love most about living and working in country WA is the community.
“Community has always been close to my heart, and I find myself always drawn back here.
“As an early career therapist, I feel that I’ve been immersed into so many learning opportunities that my metro counterparts would not get the opportunity to have.”
Tia’s journey into country healthcare began with an eight-week final placement in the country, where she quickly realised her passion for rural healthcare.
“That experience helped me understand my desire to be a country therapist,” she said.
Now, more than two years into her role with WA Country Health Service, Tia has embraced the diverse responsibilities of being a rural generalist in the Wheatbelt.
“Within my role, I work across paediatrics, home visiting, falls prevention and the ward or rehab unit. The diversity of the job means I’m always learning and growing.”
With strong community connections and a career full of opportunity, working in country WA offers both professional and personal rewards.
