Dr Davies was recently recognised for his five decades of service to the Manjimup community at the WA Rural Health Long Service Awards.
Hosted by WA Country Health Service and Rural Health West, the awards honour the contributions of long-serving medical professionals in rural communities.
Accompanied by GP colleagues, Dr Davies was presented with a certificate of service, service badges and a plaque.
First moving to Manjimup in 1978 as a temporary locum, his fifty-year career has spanned obstetrics, anaesthetics, surgery, emergency medicine and aged care.
Dr Davies was also recognised as the only rural doctor in Western Australia to have provided surgical, anaesthetic and obstetric services concurrently.
His dedication extended beyond providing care to patients, he’s mentored more than 80 medical students, 12 becoming GPs and two deciding to stay in Manjimup long term.
WA Country Health Service Inland District Director Jeremy Higgins called Dr Davies’ fifty years of service an exceptional achievement.
“To be celebrating half a century of work in rural medicine is absolutely outstanding.
“Dr Davies commitment to the local community and caring for patients in regional WA has had an immeasurable impact on them and their families stretching across generations.”
