Every immunisation matters: campaign champions
Featuring local people, for local people, the 'Every immunisation matters' campaign highlights the importance of immunisation in raising healthy country kids.
Hear from some of the families who took part in the campaign and why immunisation is so important to them.
Darlene's story
“As a mother, and now proud nana, I’ve seen firsthand how important immunisation is in keeping both my children and grandchildren safe as they grow.
For many Aboriginal families, health is not just about the individual, it’s about family, community, and looking after one another across generations.
"Immunising our children and grandchildren helps protect babies, Elders, and those in our community who are most vulnerable."
Rhiannon's story
“When my daughter Lucy died from influenza in 2019, the impact on my family and our small Wheatbelt community was devastating.
"I knew then that I wanted to do what I could to make sure it wasn't something other families and communities had to go through.
"This led me to becoming a strong advocate for immunisation, an area I now also work in, providing vaccines to children in our local community.
"Rural health has always been deeply important to me, and being a part of the 'Every immunisation matters' campaign captures my passion for immunisation, and protecting country kids and communities."

Ellen's story
“Becoming a parent changed the way I see the world. My instinct now is always to protect my child.
"As a nurse, I know how serious some illnesses can be for young children. The early years are such a vulnerable time, and because of that, I want to do everything I can to keep my child safe.
“Keeping up to date with immunisations, right from the start and at every milestone, gives me reassurance that I’m protecting my child’s health and giving them the best possible start in life.”
