Mental Health Inpatient Unit
The Goldfields Mental Health Inpatient Service is an authorised mental health unit at Kalgoorlie Health Campus under the Mental Health Act 2014. There are six inpatient beds plus a low-stimulus room.
The service promotes the rapid stabilisation of patients to enable a timely return to their local community. With the patient’s permission, we encourage supportive community networks to assist treatment and recovery by involving family, friends and carers, including other service providers where relevant.
Some patients who present to the Kalgoorlie Health Campus emergency department may be admitted to the Kalgoorlie Mental Health Inpatient Service. Patients are only be admitted if they cannot be treated by our other services.
Admissions are for as long as required to stabilise the patient. Most admissions are for a short stay of a few days to a couple of weeks.
