    Boddington Health Service refurbishment complete 17 October 2017 The refurbishment of the Boddington Health Service is now complete. Wheatbelt Regional Director Sean Conlan said that the refurbished health facilities would make a significant contribution to improving the standard and efficiency of health care in the local community. “Boddington is just one of many small hospitals and health centres in the Wheatbelt that has underdone or is undergoing refurbishment,” Mr Conlan said. “It is important to invest in regional health care and ensure that facilities continue to be modernised.” As part of the refurbishment the health service received an upgraded main entrance and waiting area, a new room in the emergency department dedicated to triage, a new communications rooms, a redeveloped and upgraded kitchen, a new disabled toilet and the staff reception area was relocated.   • Change to Northam emergency department location 17 October 2017 The redevelopment of the Northam Health Service is well underway with the refurbishment of the emergency department scheduled to begin in November. During the refurbishment of the emergency department, which is expected to run until May 2018, visitors to the health service will need to access emergency services through the main entrance of the hospital. WA Country Health Service Wheatbelt Regional Director Sean Conlan said staff would move into the temporary emergency department on 1 November 2017. “Staff will be particularly busy on Wednesday 1 November as they transition into the temporary ED and familiarise themselves with the facilities,” Mr Conlan said. “For patients presenting to ED with non-urgent medical issues, longer than usual waiting times may be experienced. “We thank the local community in advance for their patience and understanding on this day.&rdq...

    Happy cooks at Narrogin Health Service 17 October 2017 The food service staff at Narrogin Health Service are the first to reap the rewards of a $50 million redevelopment of the health service under the Southern Inland Health Initiative. For the last few months the food service staff have been producing meals for patients from a temporary transportable kitchen, but now they have moved back into their refurbished home, a contemporary kitchen featuring brand new stainless-steel equipment.     Wyalkatchem-Koorda health service upgrade on track 02 October 2017 The refurbishment of Wyalkatchem-Koorda Health Service is taking shape with the first two stages complete. Wheatbelt Regional Director Sean Conlan said construction started at the beginning of this year and was progressing according to plan. “The first stage of the refurbishment included a new kitchen, activity room for day therapy, and a communications room,” Mr Conlan said. “This is now complete and staff are working in the new kitchen. “The communications room accommodates more and better technology, including wireless data in a central fire-proof location.” The refurbishment’s second stage has also been completed, incorporating a fully assisted shower, new staff station incorporating digital X-ray processing equipment, and a new clean utility area for storing medications. “In the final stage of the refurbishment, upgrades will be made to the ...
