New Kalgoorlie Renal Hostel set to welcome clients soon 29 July 2020 A new 19-bed residential facility will soon be made available to patients undertaking dialysis at the Kalgoorlie Health Campus. The modern $7.4 million Kalgoorlie Renal Hostel, located in close proximity to the Kalgoorlie Health Campus, has reached practical completion and is expected to welcome clients from September. It consists of five accommodation blocks and three amenity blocks including a reception, kitchen, dining area, activity room and laundry. Mental Health Emergency Telehealth Service sees country patients avoid transfer 15 July 2020 Residents of rural and regional Western Australia are receiving specialist mental health care closer to home and avoiding transfers out of regions, thanks to the WA Country Health Service’s (WACHS) Mental Health Emergency Telehealth Service. Connected across 83 sites spanning 2.2 million square kilometres, the 24/7 support service has supported frontline clinicians to care for more than 1000 patients in its first year of operation. Of these cases, more than 80 per cent have been able to receive care in their local area, close to family, friends and broader support networks. Geraldton doctors pass emergency medicine training 13 July 2020 Two Geraldton Health Campus emergency doctors have successfully passed their Emergency Medicine training programs following months of learning, assessments and practical demonstration of skills. The WA Country Health Service (WACHS)’s Dr Ruth Highman has completed the prestigious Australian College of Emergency Medicine Emergency Medicine Diploma (EMD), a training program which takes 18 months to complete. “I was eager to complete the EMD as it was another opportunity for me to continue learning. New location for Broome COVID Clinic 06 July 2020 The COVID Clinic at Broome Health Campus is relocating from Tuesday 7 July. The emergency department at the hospital will offer testing for COVID-19 on Monday 6 July while the clinic relocates. The COVID clinic, which was established in April to provide a dedicated COVID-19 testing facility for the Broome community, will continue to operate between 8:30am and 4:00pm, seven days a week from the new location. The clinic will be relocated to an existing unit on the health campus grounds which can be accessed from the entry near the corner of Anne and Robinson streets. Signage has been implemented to help with locating the clinic which offers plenty of parking and wheelchair accessibility. Works begin for redevelopment of Geraldton Health Campus 01 July 2020 Fences are set to go up at 7am on Friday 3 July at the staff carpark of the Geraldton Health Campus, signalling the commencement of the forward works for the $73.3 million redevelopment of the facility. Patients and visitors can continue to access parking on site via the Shenton Street entry. The forward works, delivered by ADCO Constructions Pty Ltd, include an ambulance entry on Shenton Street, reconfiguration of the main entry to the health campus, a new carpark close to the main entry, and a southern carpark and access road from Onslow Street.
